Springfield, CO – Scam phone calls have continued to happen on a regular basis. There are a number of variations going on right now. One tactic the scammers use is to utilize a program that allows them to show a specific number on the caller ID, and not the one they are actually calling from. This is referred to as “Spoofing”. You may recognize the number, may be one from a local business, but that is not who is actually calling. The other calls include scammers saying they are from the IRS and are issuing a warrant unless you pay a certain amount of money to them. Also, there have been numerous reports of calls from someone claiming the person’s grandchild was in an accident or arrested and they need money, usually around $5,000.  As with any of these calls, do not give out any personal information including name, date of birth, social security number or any bank account information. Just hang up on the caller. If you have any questions or concerns, you can call for more information.

                                                               Thank you,

                                                                 Chief Dennis R. Bradburn
