Public Works Department Opening - The Town of Springfield is seeking an enthusiastic individual that under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled labor in construction within the Street Division. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and street maintenance desired but not necessary. Must have the ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire date. Must be at least 21 years of age, with a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid drivers license and maintain a good driving record. Be able to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screening and chosen applicant will be enrolled in a Federal DOT regulated drug testing pool. This is a regular full-time position. Benefits include vacation, retirement and health/life insurance. Salary to be determined based upon experience, qualifications and references provided. Town of Springfield Planning Commission has 3 Vacancies
The Town of Springfield has three Planning Commission vacancies, individuals wanting to apply for the vacancies must be a resident of the Town of Springfield. The Planning Commission serves as the Town's citizen planning board. The Planning Commission's role and responsibility is at times legislative and other times a quasi-judicial recommending body to the Board of Trustees. The Planning Commission recommends decisions on public hearings, review development proposals, zoning ordinance amendments, rezoning and zoning map changes as specified by the Colorado Revised Statutes. Members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the Town of Springfield Board of Trustees. There are a total of five members on the Planning Commission and public meetings are called when a request for a hearing has been made.

Chief of Police
Springfield Police Department
The Town of Springfield is seeking qualified applicants for the Chief of Police position. This is a full-time working Police Chief, under the direct supervision of the Board of Trustees. The Chief of Police plans and directs the operations of the Town of Springfield Police Department to ensure effective enforcement of laws and ordinances; the Chief will manage an annual operating budget of $280,000 and commands an outstanding team of 3 sworn Police Officers. The Chief must be accountable, responsive to issues, and able to provide a vision and direction for the Department.
Qualities Springfield is looking for in a Chief of Police include:
Knowledge of the essential elements for building an effective and accountable police department
Demonstrates strong communication, management, interpersonal and organization skills
Is visible, accessible, transparent, and engaged in community policing strategies
Demonstrates high level of cross departmental coordination and communication
Demonstrates and maintains the highest level of ethics, integrity, and accountability and leads by example
Certified as a peace officer under the guidelines of the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, or the ability to obtain Colorado certification within two (2) months of hire, is required
Associate Degree from an accredited institution with major course work in criminal justice, public safety, public administration or related field required – or any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered on a case by case basis
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, including experience in a command level leadership position within a law enforcement agency
Competitive salary and excellent benefits
Starting salary for this position ranges from $50,000 to $60,000 with compensation dependent upon qualifications
