Groundwater Well Installations
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
Springfield Landfill, Town of Springfield

Current project:
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), contracting with the Trihydro Corporation, will install groundwater monitoring wells and sample groundwater this summer to assist the facility with becoming compliant with the Colorado Solid Waste Regulations.
Background:
CDPHE is working with small landfills in Colorado that accept less than 20 tons of waste per day to make sure they are in compliance with the groundwater monitoring component of the Solid Waste Regulations. The Springfield Landfill is one of 13 participating small landfills CDPHE is assisting.
Timeline:
Wells will be installed this summer to inspect the subsurface soil and to collect groundwater samples. The drilling work is expected to take place from late July through August 2018. Groundwater sample collection is scheduled for September through December 2018.
Project scope:
Four groundwater monitoring wells will be installed near the Springfield Landfill perimeter and groundwater samples will be collected. CDPHE will use the data collected from groundwater wells at the 13 small landfills to better understand any potential environmental impacts.
