Progress on our Water Project will bring the following road closures and water service interruption tomorrow, August 6, 2026.

-7th Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Colorado St.
-Colorado St. will be closed from 5th Avenue to 7th Avenue.

-Water service along these routes will be temporarily interrupted. Crews will be going door to door to inform affected residents of this outage.

🤠 Swept Away by The Springfield Side Kick
Well, folks... We got 'em on board.
They finally heard you’re hollerin'. The town needs cleaned up all year ‘round. There’s no denying that. For years those side streets have needed a little more attention, and based on recent (less than kind conversation)... the Street Department is fixing to start sweeping them.
Now don't y'all go letting me down. It's your turn.
Starting Monday, August 10, they'll begin with the Tree Streets before working their way over to the Avenues.. that’s the numbered streets for those that aren’t sure.. on the west side of town and heading south as time allows. The attached map shows the current game plan.
Now here's where you come in...
If your car, trailer, boat, basketball goal, or that "I'll move it next weekend" project is parked along the curb, the street sweeper can't do its job. It needs to get right up against the gutter to clean out all the dirt, gravel, weeds, and whatever else has decided to make a home there.
So when it's your neighborhood's turn, please move your vehicles and other property off the street before the sweeper arrives.

From Main Street through the intersection of Colorado Street, 7th Avenue will be closed today, July 29, 2029. This is planned to start around 8:30 AM for an uncertain amount of time. Please avoid the area to allow crews to work safely and efficiently on our water project!

That's a wrap on the 2026 Springfield Pool Season!

Your support helped make summer a little brighter for so many!

The Baca County Fair is almost here. That means folks from all over the region, and a few people who only remember Springfield exists one week a year, are about to come driving through town.

So here's a wild idea... Maybe let's give them something nice to look at besides that refrigerator that's been decorating the front yard since the last presidential administration.

Mow the grass. Pull a few weeds. Pick up the limbs. Put away the "I'll get to it someday" pile. If your trash can has been enjoying a week-long vacation at the curb, maybe it's time to bring it home.

Nobody's asking for magazine-worthy landscaping. We just ask that it looks like someone still claims the place.

Springfield is a good town.. few people might even say a great town. Let's show a little hometown pride and make it look like one while we welcome visitors for fair week.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go yell at a tumbleweed for loitering.
