Today we had an awesome group of high school students roll up their sleeves and help give our welcome sign a fresh new look! Projects like this do not happen without volunteers who care—and today, that showed in a big way. To Star, Madison, Katie, Jaidyn and Shamaya: We’re incredibly grateful for your time, hard work, and willingness to give back to the community. Your colorful contributions make Springfield's "welcome" shine a little brighter! Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!

We really didn’t think this needed to be said, but here we are…

If you are digging up flowers in Memorial Park: stop. Those flowers were planted for the entire community to enjoy—not to be taken home, relocated, or “borrowed.”

This kind of behavior costs time, money, and takes away from the people who actually respect and appreciate our shared spaces.

So let’s keep it simple:
If you didn’t plant it, don’t dig it up.

Help us keep Memorial Park looking the way it should—clean, cared for, and intact.

Do better, Springfield.

We love that our park gets used and enjoyed—but these photos are NOT it. This isn’t “a little mess,” this is full-on disrespect for a public space that everyone shares.

Toilet paper everywhere, trash on the floor (despite an actual trash can being right there), and fixtures left in disarray… this isn’t how a community treats its own.

Let’s be clear: these restrooms are here for YOUR convenience. Not as a place to see how creative you can get with chaos.

Please:
-Use the trash can
-Clean up after yourself
-Do not waste the resources provided to you that others are thankful for
-Be respectful to the crews that are going to have to clean up your mess

Because if this keeps up, we’ll be forced to look at options that nobody wants—like closing facilities or limiting access.

Help us keep ALL parts of the park clean, safe, and open for everyone. It’s really not that hard.

Accessible public restroom with a toilet and wall-mounted sink. The floor is heavily littered with torn toilet paper, trash, and debris scattered throughout. A small trash can sits near the sink, partially used, while more paper is strewn around it. The restroom door is open, showing the outside walkway and grass.
Another view of the same public restroom from a different angle. The floor is covered in scattered toilet paper, trash, and small debris. A toilet and sink are mounted along the walls with grab bars, and a trash can sits nearby. Despite available disposal options, waste is spread across the floor, creating a messy and unsanitary scene.
The landfill will remain closed today, April 11, 2026, due to high winds.

Graphic introducing trustee candidate Ben Gutierrez. The layout features his name prominently at the top, with the Town of Springfield, Colorado logo on the right. Text on the left shares his responses to lighthearted questions. His “most controversial food opinion” is that he likes Rocky Mountain oysters, even though most people don’t. His favorite throwback movie is Star Wars. When asked what makes him proud to call Springfield home, he highlights the support from the community. A “This or That” section shows his preferences circled: pancakes over waffles, texting over calling, night owl, summer over winter, and pronouncing “BAK-uh” instead of “BAH-kuh.”
