The Arkansas River Power Authority and the Town of Springfield Municipal Electric Utility are
accepting college scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. ARPA is offering
one $700.00 scholarship to a high school senior in each of its member cities. The Springfield
Municipal Electric Utility will match the ARPA award of $700.00, resulting in a $1,400.00
scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year.
To be eligible, a student must be a high school senior residing with a family receiving electric
service from the Town of Springfield Municipal Utility. The application deadline is April 15,
2025. Application forms, scholarship requirements, and eligibility criteria are available either
through the High School Counseling Office or at the Town of Springfield. A local selection
committee will name the winner of the award. The winner of the scholarship will be announced
in May.
ARPA is an intergovernmental power authority created in 1979 by the municipalities of Holly,
La Junta, Lamar, Las Animas, Springfield and Trinidad, Colorado. ARPA furnishes the
wholesale electric power needs of its member municipalities.

On March 27th, 2025, US Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04) Staff, will host mobile office hours, at Springfield Town Hall . This allows staff to be available to constituents who aren't getting answers from federal agencies, like veterans seeking to get the care they have earned from the VA, travelers that need expedited assistance to receive a passport on short notice, taxpayers being harassed by the IRS, and senior citizens having issues with the Social Security Administration or Medicare.
Constituents are invited to come to the office hours to express their viewpoints on legislative issues or request special Congressional Commendations from the Congresswoman recognizing outstanding public achievements. Mobile Office Hours will be held from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM.
