Municipal Electric Utility Announce College Scholarship Application Deadline
The Arkansas River Power Authority and the Town of Springfield Municipal Electric Utility are
accepting college scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. ARPA is offering
one $700.00 scholarship to a high school senior in each of its member cities. The Springfield
Municipal Electric Utility will match the ARPA award of $700.00, resulting in a $1,400.00
scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year.
To be eligible, a student must be a high school senior residing with a family receiving electric
service from the Town of Springfield Municipal Utility. The application deadline is April 15,
2025. Application forms, scholarship requirements, and eligibility criteria are available either
through the High School Counseling Office or at the Town of Springfield. A local selection
committee will name the winner of the award. The winner of the scholarship will be announced
in May.
ARPA is an intergovernmental power authority created in 1979 by the municipalities of Holly,
La Junta, Lamar, Las Animas, Springfield and Trinidad, Colorado. ARPA furnishes the
wholesale electric power needs of its member municipalities.


On March 27th, 2025, US Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04) Staff, will host mobile office hours, at Springfield Town Hall . This allows staff to be available to constituents who aren't getting answers from federal agencies, like veterans seeking to get the care they have earned from the VA, travelers that need expedited assistance to receive a passport on short notice, taxpayers being harassed by the IRS, and senior citizens having issues with the Social Security Administration or Medicare.
Constituents are invited to come to the office hours to express their viewpoints on legislative issues or request special Congressional Commendations from the Congresswoman recognizing outstanding public achievements. Mobile Office Hours will be held from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM.

There will be a control burn at the Town of Springfield Landfill today. The Baca County Sheriff's Office has been notified.

Due to the forecasted high winds, the landfill will be closed tomorrow February 14, 2025.

The Town of Springfield will be closed Monday February 17, 2025 for President's Day.

The Town of Springfield will be closing at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, December 24th, and will be closed Wednesday December 25th and Thursday December 26th. This closure will include the Landfill.

Break out the decorations, untangle those lights.. It's time to make the Griswold's proud!! Our Christmas Lighting and Decorating Contest is back, so deck your halls and show us what you've got! Every home in town is eligible, just have your lights turned on from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on December 19th and 20th.
If they are bright enough to see from the moon, (or at least to impress the judges) cash prizes will be awarded to 1st-3rd places.
1st Place Winner: $100.00
2nd Place Winner: $75.00
3rd Place Winner: $50.00
Winner's will be contacted after December 23rd. Pictures of the winner's home will be posted on the Town's website and published in the Newspaper.

🚨 Attention Springfield Residents! 🚨
Starting today, sewer cleaning crews will be working throughout our town. You have probably noticed them working in previous years. They are typically in red vehicles with warning lights. They'll be here for the next couple of weeks, so please be cautious and mindful of them as they work.

Please note that our offices and the Landfill will be closed on Thursday, November 28th, in observance of the holiday.
